Hi TJ:

If I remember correctly, gaining access to the TeraStation is possible
but may cause their support staff to give you grief if you were to ask
for support. You are effectively breaking their interface to add
additional services, like rsync, which they don't want to support.
Several NAS devices I can think of work this way. Newer NAS devices or
versions may include rsync directly in the supported configuration,
such as the new Iomega ix4-200 series.

A quick Google search turned up a few rsync providers, such as
rsync.net, which will allow you to use rsync over SSH. You will need
to set up the entire configuration, from installing rsync to
connecting to their servers.

Difficulty in setting up: 7 out of 10

For my clients, Mozy or MozyPro (more likely) is easier to set up
and maintain. It does require a Windows (or Mac) host to read the
data from a mapped drive (MozyPro) or local drive (MozyHome) and
transfer it to their servers. This machine needs to be on most/all
of the time, as I'm sure you know and are trying to work around.

Difficulty in setting up: 1 out of 10

I've not tried the first option.

Im looking to set up an online backup solution to send data from an NAS
to an online provider.

The goal is to get data offsite. Its just a small workgroup with a
buffalo terrastation RAID 1 as the file server.

So far, everything I have looked at backs up files on client computer to
an online service, or to a NAS.

I want to go from NAS to online service.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
