[sdw2003] Residential VOIP? Vonage, Skype, etc?

I've had vonage for several years now, $20/month, 500minutes/month
free, and have essentially no problems.

BUT, if you do have a problem, their service sucks. My old linksys
vonage/4 port router finally died (I did extensive diagnostics), and
it took forever to get them to admit it was a hardware problem. Then,
promised new, 4 port router, I was impressed that they emailed right
away the serial number and mac address. but a different one arrived
and it wasn't turned on or enabled, and it took about a half hour to
get THAT fixed.

then that one was flakey and after much time and hassle, finally got
them to replace with current little box with orange LCD screen. Still
only one port, but at least it's been solid SINCE then.

what would happen if OOMA goes out of business? That's the part I've
been worried about at that end.

Alternatives are skype with skype phone/box so no need to keep
computer on (if, you're weird and ever actually turn it off... :)
VERY cheap rates to land lines anywhere in the world.

Or magic Jack? Again, need computer on to use.
