GENERAL SUMMARY: The Network Administrator reports to the Director of IT
Operations. The Network Administrator will provide technical support and
troubleshoot all hardware and software supported by Thomas Jefferson School
of Law. The Network Administrator must possess excellent written and verbal
skills in order to train and communicate effectively with faculty, staff and
students. The Network Administrator will work cooperatively with users to
provide the most effective user support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but not limited to the
following:
• Perform administrative tasks to ensure that the security and integrity of
installed servers are maintained. Task will include, but not be limited to
creation and maintenance of user accounts, group accounts, group polices,
printers, print queues, print servers, etc. and auditing of accounts to
ensure that only necessary rights and access are permitted.
• Perform daily back-ups of installed server and maintain a daily back-up
log.
• Effectively troubleshoot and diagnose computer/network anomalies and
provide appropriate and effective solutions.
• Perform regular and periodic maintenance on servers, and network
infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the network and
that maximum network availability is maintained.
• Continually draft and maintain a procedures manual for all tasks performed
by the Network Administrator.
• Demonstrate a positive, service oriented attitude while communicating with
Thomas Jefferson School of Law faculty, staff and students.
• Perform adds, moves and changes to the Cisco network infrastructure
including routers, switches and wireless devices.
• Experience with telephony systems including add moves and changes with
Mitel 3300.
• Assist the desktop support team with escalated issues.
• Demonstrate the willingness and ability to successfully accept and
complete other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Certification/Education Required: Microsoft Certified IT Professional
(MCITP) credential or higher such as Microsoft Certified Systems
Administrator (MCSA) and/or other pertinent certifications.
• Certification/Education Desired: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or
related field, and/or other pertinent certifications.
• Experience Required with Windows 2003, Exchange 2003, strong diagnostic
skills for server based systems. Ability to troubleshoot a range of
computing environments, LAN/WAN, Windows, Internet, etc.
• Experience Preferred with Windows Server 2008, VMware vSphere, Windows 7,
Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment etc.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills.
• Positive service attitude.
• Ability to type accurately.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift thirty-five (35) pounds onto a cart.
• Ability to push a dolly with boxes, computer equipment, etc.
• Ability to use tools with dexterity to perform computer hardware repairs
and operate equipment.
• Ability to sit and work at computer stations for long periods of time.
WORK SCHEDULE:
40 hours per week. Monday through Friday during normal business hours as
well as be prepared to answer emergency calls during the weekends and
off-hours.
