Greetings!
These were posted a little while back, but the pricing has changed, so this
is a revised posting!
My bud that has these (started with 70+ of them), really wants to get rid of
them (move them to people that can make use of them, and not dump them). The
servers are very much time-tested via his former ISP operations (well burned
in, and not likely to fail at all). Name brand (HP) 1U rack mount servers.
The RAM is expandable, the drives are hot swap (and can be replaced with
larger drives), and you can have redundant power supplies too (only one is
included, but you can add another later).
My original incentive was to help move enough of these for my buddy so that
I would get one or two for myself for free. Only a few actually moved, so
now I'm simply reduced to helping a bud sell his old assets so he can pay
his bills. I believe in Karma, so it's a good thing! :-)
Anyway, I still have a half a dozen down here in San Diego, so this is just
one last attempt to ping everyone and see if anyone wants to take advantage
of the deal he has going. He paid quite a bit more for all these servers
when they were brand new, but he has dropped the price to *$180/ea.* If you
know anything about these machines, you know that this is an awesome deal if
you can afford the expenditure! Honestly, if my own equity line hadn't
frozen, I'd be buying several for my own use (it pains me not to be able to
take advantage of this myself! No lie!).
Here's the specs...
# Model: *HP DL360 G3*
# Two 32-bit Intel Xeon 2.8 Ghz with Hyper Threading (DUAL CPUs)
# Memory: 2 GB DDR2 PC2100R ECC Registered (don't know what the limit is,
but more can be installed)
# Hard Disk: 2x36GB Hot swap U320 SCSI Total: (larger drives can be
installed, and these are HOT SWAP)
# Network: Two NC7781 PCI-X *Gigabit* NICs (embedded)
# Manageability: Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Management (hardware management
system that runs even if the server stops working, so that you can diagnose
problems in running hardware).
# *RAID* Controller: Smart Array 5i for Data redundancy
# I/O Channels: *Two full length 64-bit/100MHz PCI-X slots*
# Power Supply: 325-Watt hot plug power supply (a second can be added for
redundancy)
# One (1) Mouse and Keyboard Port
# One (1) 15-pin VGA port
# 24x CD-ROM Drive (a low-profile DVD drive could be used in place of it)
# 1.44MB Diskette Drive
# (2) USB port
# O/S: CentOS 5.3 ( free 32 bit Linux Operating system...or add your own )
# Guaranteed to work. 3 days server replacement warranty (he will go 15 days
if you multiple units).
Truly, this is a quite an opportunity to anyone that has a little spare
cash. Even a business that needs a few more servers, but has a limited
budget... check the Web, this is a deal!
Please feel free to e-mail and/or call me for any questions/concerns at all!
Note: I will likely only have these in my possession for *a week or two more
*. So, please speak up if you have any interest at all. Then the wife is
likely going to murder me if I don't take what remains back to my friend in
L.A. (that's where his old ISP business used to be too, but back to his
storage unit these will go!).
With that, I've done my best to give a hand to a friend, and there certainly
isn't ANY obligation to buy any of these, but I believe it to be a heck of a
deal to anyone that can use some good quality servers!

PS- Randy S., this is the posting that I talked to you about at the user
group meeting...let me know if you want any. It would likely irk my wife,
but I'm sure I can get more too... at least up until the whole lot of them
are gone. ;-)
