Hi Marc,
I don't have any experience w/PCI. Our Win2K3 server has 2 PCI-X slots I
wanted to take advantage of so I went with the Sil 3124
(http://www.siliconimage.com/products/product.aspx?pid=27) I also used this
adapter on a XP workstation with no interface problems.
I've since upgraded the server to Win2K8 and still no problem.
While the documentation shows the card is PCI compatible, I seem to remember
there were no fast PCI eSATA adapters. Only PCI-X or PCI-e could process
the data fast enough to get SATA II performance.
Best regards,

Subject: [sdw2003] eSATA adapter in Win2K3 server
Does anyone have an eSATA adapter/drive combination that works consistently
for them?
I took over a client that had a StarTech adapter with a Seagate Xtreme
drive; couldn't see the drive.
After researching the issue, I found that Seagate listed two boards that
were known to work with the drive. I purchased and installed the Siig 2-port
eSATA II-150; the server locked up after a couple of days.
Siig support says get a different drive, that Seagate is flakey. He also
said that you should go with PCI Express cards as the PCI cards are
inconsistent.
Any suggestions?
