[sdw2003] Recipe for splitting the network/business

This is a very common oversight by Linux people. It never seems to amaze me
that you can be critical, actually borderline rude in response to James'
post.

The cost is not in the software, not in the hardware, not in the initial
setup, the cost is going to be in effect on the business as well as
continued maintenance. If you have 10 employees with an average salary of
40,000, you have a burn rate of about $7700 a week, not counting all of the
overhead expenses of the building, insurance, lost revenue, etc. You are
trying to establish that you should move everyone to a completely different
structure and setup, with different procedures, different configuration,
etc. While linux may provide some basic features, you are gonna have to pay
someone for support, whether it be Redhat, some old guy with an unkept long
gray beard that never learned windows or a third party. You are talking
about a $1000. Even if it was $10,000 it would be worth it to keep nearly
the same config. Status Quo will allow his staff to get back to work as
quick as possible.

Keep in mind that this is a Windows list, and there are a number of great
windows solutions out there, and that easily trump linux in overall costs
and value. If you had more experience on the windows platform you would
realize this. It sounds like you have great ideas and good experience in
the Linux world, and there are many people on the net that would appreciate
your help.

I dont personally care for SBS, but it does provide an inexpensive all in
one solution.
