[sdw2003] Recipe for splitting the network/business

Hello...

I have a friend who is buying a business that is joined to another
business. One business is a marina/space-rentals and the other is a boat
tour company. They are splitting it up.

They have about 20 users total, running Windows Server and Exchange. He is
taking over and moving out 10 of the users to another office/city. The user
PCs and all the data will come with it, so he needs to "replicate" the
network at the new location, and establish a new email and Internet
presence. He can take the data/files he needs but the server hardware will
stay.

Buying this business is taking all but the food on the table, so he will
spend on hardware and services he needs (it's in the plan), but wants to
minimize expenses for a few months.

Does anyone have a recipe for doing something like this?

Here's what I have so far:

   - Obtain Admin passwords for the local servers and workstations
   - Backup Exchange Server and DC
   - Obtain new domain, set the DNS to point to my servers
   - Create emails for the users, Redirect the current emails to the new
   addresses
   - (suggestions on running domain servers or use hostins?)
   - Note drive mappings, usernames and computer names
   - Note DNS and DHCP settings
   - Backup Exchange Server
   - Backup user settings etc.
   - Disconnect all local workstations from the current Domain Controller in
   old location
   - Sever connection to old Domain Controller - all functionality will
   cease
   - Obtain new firewall/router equipment
   - Demote the DC to standalone server
   - Create new Domain Controller (DC) with Active Directory (AD)
   - Create users using usernames list and computers on new DC
   - Join all stations to DC
   - Recreate shares and drive mappings
   - Login users on stations connected to DC
   - Share printers etc,
   - Test

Thanks for listening,

Joe
