[sdw2003] Email disclaimers

The way things <really> work...
Is that you're afforded certain ordinary "rights" and there is an
expectation of "normalcy" in all actions.
The danger is when you <lessen> your rights.
The classic example is the newbie FTP SysAdmin, I guess everyone should
know that you can configure a custom greeting and fare-thee-well when
the User logs on and off the session?
If you say something in either that's either very bland or restrictive,
it won't hurt you but if you even kiddingly say something like "I
welcome all you obnoxious hackers, login at your own risk!" -- Then
legally you've actually given hackers permission to do dastardly things
they might not have been legally able to do normally.
Same thing with disclaimers... If you say something, then if it makes
you feel good then you're mostly wasting electrons (thankfully not
trees), but if you say something improper then you could damage your
legal standing.
So, disclaimers are generally no gain and plenty to lose.
And if you listen to a lay person like myself then you deserve what you
get for the cheap advice you're getting...
Tony

Subject: [sdw2003] Email disclaimers
I realize that email disclaimers may/may not stand up in court
depending, but are there any good free/inexpensive server-based
disclaimers out there that anyone has experience with for Exchange 2003
in particular? Appreciate all input.
