Totally tongue-in-cheek...

That's tongue in cheek right ?

I wasn't there. I don't do much Windows anymore at all... but I
might be again sometime in the future and am interested to know this.

I like the idea of a useful command line shell and a server
doesn't need a web browser, etc. Not having those things is a good
start. Not having all the crap *running* and not having the code for all
the extra junk *installed* are both excellent. However, and this is an
honest question, is the core of the OS lighter weight ? Is the kernel
actually smaller and/or faster ? Does it manage memory better ? What
filesystems are available for the OS ? Are there choices of filesystems
available that are better for specific uses like security/encryption,
read and/or write performance, listing or manipulating large numbers of
small files, etc ?
If the System Requirements as stated by MS for Win2k3 are 128M
RAM and 133MHz CPU (550MHz recommended) and 2.9G disk space for the CD
install and the system requirements for 2008 32-bit version as per MS
are: 1GHz (2GHz recommended), 512M RAM (2G recommended) and 10G disk
(40G recommended)... how is it faster ? Or are these 2008 requirements
for a full-bloat install ?
I mean, faster means faster on the same hardware right ?
Besides, the performance issues I have had on one OS verses another are
usually the applications and filesystems fault and not so much the
kernel.
