Bill Gates mentioned that there is a possibility that Windows 7 client may ship next year (http://www.news.com/8301-13860_3-9911470-56.html ). Windows 7 milestone 1 was shipped in a closed beta to selected partners.

There isn't any one reason. I have just gotten less and less
impressed. Its a resource hog and doesnt offer anything for me that
xp doesnt. Even after disabling the uac and all the other annoyances
I went back to xp and my machines have ran great. We have shelved our
vista migration as well at work. Its just not worth the work,
especially with MS slated to release another OS in 2009.
