Hi Nelson,
Do you happen to still have the an original hard drive of the 2000
server
that had hardware issues or did you wipe it/them out??? If so, you can
use the drive with the new hardware but run a Windows 'Repair' in which
it'll reload the operating system and detect the new hardware, but it'll
retain all of your software and settings.
thanks

Subject: [sdw2003] Windows 2000 help
We have a couple of older Windows 2000 running IIS for web sites and FTP
and last week one of them had a hardware issues so we had to replace the
motherboard and reload the OS from scratch. We had backups of the data
but had to reconfigure IIS, etc. Well, after a couple of days of
configuring we got to the point to configure Network Load Balancing to
put it back in production and unlike every version of 2003 NLB is only
available on Windows 2000 Advance Server. OK.. so I got the media and
license and go to do an upgrade and come to find out that there is no
direct upgrade path from 2000 server to 2000 Advance Server. So my
question is... has anyone of you ran into an issue like this before?
I've been searching on the Internet for a solution that will allow me to
upgrade to Advance server or at least be able to use NLB on my current
install but haven't had any luck. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
-Nelson
